Adopting a Rescue Dog several years ago,  really opened my eyes to the plight of these dogs. Living a life of abuse and neglect, some are lucky to find their way into loving homes while others live their lives cold, hungry and alone. I wanted to find a way I could help out so I looked at my own rescue dog.

His name was Hunter but we nicknamed him the Poopy Doop.  Not much was known about his past but he was found wandering on an Indian Reserve near Montreal, Quebec. Starved and beaten, he was almost put down, but there was something in his eyes that made the authorities change their minds. It was later discovered that at some point in his terrible abused life, he had had been shot. They found during an x-ray, that he had a pellet lodged in his back leg and stomach. Because of this he has trouble standing and sitting and was not a very active dog, but the love he gave despite all his hardships is endless.

He lived a good life with us for almost seven years until one day after I got home from work, I discovered that shortly after I let him out to do his business, he suffered a stroke and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to end his suffering.  We miss him every day and he will always remain in our hearts.
